Karl Kügle gave a lecture at St John’s College, University of Oxford to members of the Late Medieval History seminar (convenors: Hannah Skoda and Natalia Nowakowska). The lecture was entitled “‘Ancient music’ in late medieval Europe: from thirteenth-century Paris to seventeenth-century Silesia” and took place on 5 February 2019.

On 15 January 2019, Karl Kügle offered a public lecture on the Koblenz fragments at the Institut für Kunstgeschichte und Musikwissenschaft, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Germany.

Music from 16th-century Poland and its interplay with the musical past were the subject of a concert and talk with our AP La Morra, moderated by the Heidelberg/Zurich team at the Musikwissenschaftliches Institut  in Zurich on 12 December 2018. 

On 27 November 2017 Piotr Ziółkowski (Ph.D. Student from the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences) presented his research paper ‘Rękopisy chorałowe kościoła Mariackiego w Gdańsku a krzyżacka tradycja liturgiczna’ (‘Chant manuscripts from St Mary’s Church in Gdańsk, and the liturgical tradition of the Teutonic Order’).

Adam Mathias presented his research at a conference in Lucca entitled “Ars Antiqua III: Music and Culture in Europe, c1150–c1330”, organised by Centro Studi Opera Omnia Luigi Boccherini. The conference took place from 30 November up to and including 2 December.

In November 2018, Jan Ciglbauer (Prague team) spent a month conducting research at the Hamburg University Library. His stay was funded by DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). In the course of his stay, he gave a lecture at the Institute of Historical Musicology.

As part of the annual meeting of the American Musicological Society, this year held in San Antonio, Texas (1-4 November), Adam Mathias (Cambridge team) presented a paper entitled “Clausulae in Two Modes”.

The 47th Annual Musicological Conference of the Polish Composers’ Union took place at the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences from 25 to 27 October 2018.
