On 27 November Paweł Gancarczyk gave a lecture at the V. Saradjishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire in Georgia. He presented musicological research in Poland and the main principles and aims of the SoundMe project. In his presentation he focused on the functioning of the musical past in the music repertory of the Bohemian Utraquists. Georgian researchers and PhD students had the opportunity of getting to know this subject on the example of the canon ‘Presulem ephebeatum’ by Petrus Wilhelmi de Grudencz. This composition could be heard on the recordings of Schola Gregoriana Pragensis, and in a contemporary arrangement by Bastarda, an ensemble of improvised music from Warsaw.

The presentation met with considerable interest from reserchers and PhD students. The audience asked about the principles underlying the HERA projects, and the rules for their organisation and evaluation. Discussions included the question of Polish-Georgian collaboration both in the area of early polyphonic music and music of the twentieth century. Agreement was reached on the principles of collaboration between the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Tbilisi State Conservatoire.

The lecture took place thanks to the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Tbilisi.
